Tinie Tempah recently released his mixtape “Junk Food“, but despite all his notable achievements and chart success, the doubts persist still over one of the UK’s premier artists in the mainstream.
With “Junk Food” featuring many of today’s biggest artists from the UK scene including Giggs, JME, Wretch 32, Stormzy, Bonkaz, G Frsh, Sneakbo, Ms Banks, J Hus, MO Stack and more, the production on #JUNKFOOD is on point, but yet again the jury is still out on whether Tinie can reclaim the credibility from the growing list of naysayers.
My personal feeling is that Tinie’s career is in a bit of a rock and a hard place musically…and that sounds absurd when you consider his chart success alone and TV looks. However, we have to assess and be clear that Chips campaign has altered somewhat the public perception of Tinie Tempah.
On one hand Tinie has had two number one singles in a matter of months this year, but on the other hand many have started to question his actual ability as an MC (Insert again Chip right here)…. furthermore, that hasn’t stopped the murmurs within the UK scene who doubt if he will replicate the success of Disc-Overy.
Whilst Tinie is doing extremely well with the chart success for his commercial music (7 UK Number 1s), the public court of opinion still seems unconvinced if #JUNKFOOD really fed their insatiable appetite.
