Following the release of Missy Elliot’s brand new track, ‘9 inning’, I found myself suffocating my eardrums with her previous material. Back to the good old days of her infamously odd music videos, and her craze for headwear.
Therefore leading me to my choice for this weeks’ ‘Throwback Thursday’. A song that, when originally released, I was way too young to understand. The mental imagery I created from the track back then differs entirely to what I could create from it now. Completely.
However, the song still holds good memories. The backing track to most evenings my mother and her girlfriends would have at the house, glass of wine in hand whilst they had their weekly, stereotypical conversation about men and all the rest of it.
A song that, if I stayed up late enough, I’d bop my head too whilst getting my daily fix of MTV Base.
And so, without further ado, I re-present to you Missy Elliot – One Minute Man
