From being tipped as the next Corinne-Bailey Rae to having a fan base including the likes of Ed Sheeran, thirteen year old Mahalia has finally released her very own EP “Head Space“.
The four track EP contains three original songs from the talented singer/songwriter (Let the world see the light, Ride and If you’re in love) as well as her popular rendition of Mardy Bum by The Arctic Monkeys. In a recent interview, Mahalia spoke of finding inspiration from such artists as Bon Iver, Kate Nash, Josh Kumra, Ed Sheeran and her parents (who are also musicians) – a statement that makes sense once you have inhaled the beauty of her sound.
Her free release exhibits her ability to merge soul and folk music into one sweet, sincere resonance. Mahalia oozes talent in the purest form with such an untouched originality she could wipe out the entire hipster bandwagon with one strum of her guitar. A talent which will continue to blossom for many years to come, as will her fan numbers.
