Amaru Don TV Deepest Songs Series, 2011 Recap W/ with Mike Posner
Mike Posner aka “Cooler than me”. I loved Mike Posner’s first mixtape (A matter of time), I still play it regularly today.
Recapping on the “Amaru Don TV Deepest Songs Series” with Mike Posner, It was a surreal day, the day that the world lost Nate Dogg . Before the interview had started Mike Posner was visibly taken aback by the news (he found it out just as we were setting up our cameras) we actually had a little tribute to Nate Dogg (see below)
When I posed the question to Mike on his ‘Deepest Song’, he referred to “Save your goodbye” a track on his debut album ‘31 Minutes to Takeoff‘. Mike describes being influenced by Common’s “I used to love her” a witty track where Common talks of his love for hip hop, but you’d think he’s speaking about a lady. Mike Posner decided to adopt a similar approach with “Save your Goodbye”
Why is it his deepest song? “Save your Goodbye is me writing a letter to my depression, I’ve struggled with depression all my life”
Speaking with Mike, you would never have thought he had such battles on his hands which just shows his courageous attitude, and desire to still be a creative force within the music game.
