The Bridge into the ‘MF Life’.

Melanie Fiona is set to release her long awaited second album The MF Life’ on December 6th in her personal coined sound of Stadium Soul. Inspiration for this new sound was born while touring with Alicia Keys, internationally, performing her music in large venues.

The Bridge’ captured Melanie’s musical influences in her own interpretation adding tones of her personal growth in life and love.

I personally feel The MF Life’ now needs to clearly reflect Melanie’s journey these past three years into where she is now as an ever evolving artist. This sophomore albums needs to display her full potential, graduating her to the next level in her career; building that essential wider audience. This ability has been proven  through her single ‘It Kills Me’ that sat at number one on the Billboard R’n’B charts for 9 weeks knocking Trey Songz’s ‘I Invented Sex’ off the top spot.

From the success of Melanie’s single “It Kills Me” there is no question in her ability to produce songs that make an impact on the charts and radio if she is paired with the correct writers and producers. Melanie clearly has a formula the works. These aspects have been applied to the new songs that Melanie has released so far, but to luke warm response.  Comparing the first two singles released from The Bridge ‘Give It Too Me Right’ and ‘It Kills Me’ and the first two singles released from The MF Life ‘Gone And Never Coming Back’ and 4am. There is a clear difference in the feelings created while listening to the two sets of singles side by side. GANCB and 4am do not possess the bold brass attitude of GITMR and IKM possess, that caused the audience to stop and listen to the emotion Melanie was expressing. Drawing them in to question, who exactly was making these statements with so much passion, in the no hold type of honesty? Melanie following singles need to recapture the authenticity.

Melanie has a history of writing for artist internationally as well as fellow Roc Nation managed Pop powerhouse Rihanna (Dem haters). Now is the time for Melanie to prove her own individual ability as a song writer and conceptualist on her own project. Taking a more control in how this new album is produced as a full body of work.

I have every confidence in Melanie Fiona and her ability to produce a high quality body of work, not just in singles to push the album commercially through radio spins, but an album that  sustain long term; allowing the listener to revisit always hearing something new. Melanie Fiona is an artist who takes the integrity of her music very seriously. This hopefully will be shown through her growth lyrically and vocally in a broad spectrum of material.

Label executive Steve Rifkind recently made these comments via twitter.

“This @melaniefiona album is ridiculous have not stopped playing it award winning album”

Can Melanie Fiona advance her career to make a powerful impact in popular music? Yes, she has the complete package. Melanie’s second album is a pivotal moment in her career that, unfortunately has not had the strongest start off the blocks as far as chart position goes; or the buying audiences’ knowledge of what is currently happening with this project outside of interviews. Should the audience be looking for Melanie Fiona or should Melanie Fiona be looking for the audiences?
